Cairns Northern Beaches

If you are after soft sand and palm fringed beaches then step outside of Cairns City and travel north to the Cairns Northern Beaches. The Northern Beaches stretch for 26km along beautiful coastline. A mixture of residential and holiday accommodation is scattered up the coastline, with the most popular holiday hotspots being at Trinity Beach and Palm Cove. The Cairns Northern Beaches are well serviced with bus connections, tours, Great Barrier Reef trips, restaurants & cafes, as well as general businesses such as post offices, banks, shopping centres and grocery stores.

 

Trinity Beach

Situated just 20 minutes by car from Cairns City, Trinity Beach is a lovely sheltered cove nestled between two headlands. The golden sandy beach is framed by 1km of beautiful palms and features great facilities including electric BBQs for family enjoyment dotted along Vasey Esplanade, a beachside children’s playground, various cafes and and intimate al fresco restaurants. Towards the southern headland is a rock walk and where you can enjoy watching sunrises, sunsets, dolphins and boats. Trinity Beach is known as having the quieter, relaxed, laid-back tropical lifestyle and is a favourite for both locals and tourists.

 

Trinity Beach Activities

Along the Esplanade you will also find a number of restaurants, a tavern, car rental, a beachwear shop and stores selling basic provisions. Dining is varied with a choice of intimate restaurants, cafes and take-away shops, some local favourites include L'Unicos, Fratelli On Trinity and the Trinity Beach Bar & Grill which has the best water views in town. An easy walk from the beach is the Coastwatchers Shopping Centre which includes a supermarket, butcher, pharmacy, bakery, liquor store and other general needs. Trinity Beach has safe swimming year round, with a protective Stinger Net during the summer months that is lifeguard patrolled. Beach activities include windsurfing, sailing, waveskis, kayaking, fishing and beach volleyball. All Great Barrier Reef tours, rainforest trips, Kuranda & Skyrail packages can pick up from here, and after a busy day of touring there is no better place to return than to the laid-back, relaxed atmosphere of Trinity Beach.

Palm Cove

Getting There

Generally people who are staying at Trinity Beach or Palm Cove hire a car so that they can self drive around beautiful Tropical North Queensland. Bus transport runs at convenient and regular intervals, both day and night. All tours can pick up from here and airport shuttles can be arranged.
