Fitzroy Island Resort is a tropical paradise of rainforest and coral beaches within the calm sheltered waters of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
Located only 29 km off the coast of Cairns, the island is a listed National Park and has only one resort. Just 45 minutes by boat, Fitzroy Island Resort offers guests the opportunity to intimately discover the magic and diversity of the Great Barrier Reef from land and sea, making it the perfect base for snorkelling, diving and exploring the reef and rainforest.

The affordable 4 Star Resort offers a range of luxurious accommodation (99 rooms) including Hotel Rooms and Suites.

Accommodation:

Resort Hotel Room are tiled throughout and feature tea & coffee making facilities, small fridge and a black marble ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower. These rooms can sleep a maximum of 2 people in a Queen or 2x King Single beds. There is no balcony or views.

Beachfront Cabins are stand alone cabins in pods of 2 and are just a stones throw away from the waters edge. They are slightly larger version of the Resort Rooms.  They feature tea & coffee making facilities, a marble ensuite with walk-in shower and they also feature a balcony which is perfect for relaxing on at the end of the day.  The Beachfront Cabins sleep 2 people Queen Bedding.  They can also be made into a 2 Bedroom configuration which can sleep a maximum of 4. 

One Bedroom Ocean Suites boast a generous balcony and are ideally located parallel to the beachfront. Just a cluster of tropical palms shade your view of the magnificent ocean and beautiful views.  Lounge and dining area features: modern kitchenette (microwave, toaster, electric kettle & large fridge), leather furnishings, plasma TV and black marble bathroom. Separate bedroom with Queen Bed offers stunning views of the bay. Sleeps up to 4 guests (with extra 2 persons sleeping on a sofa bed).

Two Bedroom Ocean Suites Consists of an Ocean Suite and a Resort Room with a shared common entrance. Sleeps 4 to 6 guests.

• Fish Feeding: At the end of the Fitzroy Island Jetty -­10.45am & 4.30pm
• Whale watching: July to September -­ recommended viewing from the Lighthouse.
• Tropical rainforest tracks: explore the National Park and walking trails. Secret Garden 1km, Lighthouse 3.6km, Summit 2.6km return, Nudey Beach Track 1.2km.
• Video games room, On Loan from Reception - Puzzle Boards, Board Games, Books.
• Entertainment: Foxy’s Bar - Weekend Entertainment, Local Bands/ DJ’s, Island Jazz 2nd Sunday of the month. Pool tables.
• Explore Fitzroy Island’s coral reefs and beaches (Beaches are made of coral and reef walkers are recommended!)
• Fitzroy Island Adventure Centre - (charges apply) Scuba Diving, snorkelling, Kayaking, Water Trampoline, Glass bottom boat, Great Barrier Reef Cruise, Aqajet (diving scooter), Sunset Sail on Eye Spy DJ.

Fitzroy Island is covered with magnificent rainforest and features many walking tracks ranging from a short stroll to Nudey Beach through to a more challenging hike to the Summit.  The island is surrounded in beautiful fringing reefs which are teeming with marine life. The best snorkelling is off the rocks between Welcome Bay and Nudey Beach. Expect to see Turtles, tropical fish and many colourful corals.  

The resort itself has a fabulous pool, swim up pool bar, cinema and small supermarket that stocks the basics.  Please note that if you do intend on self catering, it may be an idea to bring some food with you from the mainland. 

Zephyr Restaurant:  Open for breakfast and dinner and some lunches depending on demand.  Serving modern Australian using local produce and fish.  All dietary requirements are catered on request.  Please advise when booking so that we can cater to your needs.  Daily specials available.  

Getting There:
A ferry ride from the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal marina takes approximately 45 minutes.

• Sunlover Ferry depart Cairns daily at 10am and departs Fitzroy at 4:40pm (until 31 March 2012) Depart Cairns at 9:30am and depart Fitzroy at 4:30pm (from 01 April 2012). The cost is $65 return per adult. 
• Sunkist Ferry departs Cairns daily at 7:30am (staff & goods transfer) and 2pm and departs Fitzroy at 09:30am and 5pm.
  The cost is $65 return per adult. 
• Raging Thunder ferry departs Cairns daily at 8:30am and departs Fitzroy at 4:30pm.
  The cost is $58 return per adult.

**Please be mindful of ferry times when booking flights. 
Luggage allowance is 1 piece of luggage per person. Any extra is an additional $5 per item.

Check In/Out
Check In: 02:00 pm. Pool towels and changing facilities are made available for early ferry arrivals.
Check Out: 10:00 am. Bag storage and change facilities are available for guests departing on the last ferry.

Diving : Fitzroy Island is a continental Island with fringing reef, it is a unique and diverse breeding ground for the Great Barrier Reef.  Located approximately 29 kms around Cape Grafton from Cairns, the gateway to the Barrier Reef.  At Fitzroy Island there is a fully equipped dive shop and professional team to cater for diving and training.  The dive centre is not operated by the resort but is available to guests at an additional cost.
