Even though not in Cairns central, worth the extra as the mini bus is available for use to get you in and out of town or use of a taxi.
Amazing pools - great acccomodation. Very well maintained throughout resort. Pleasant, helpful and obliging manner by staff.
A pleasant surprise to receive housekeeping half way through the stay and top up of complimentary toiletries.
Enjoyed visit to Day spa as a treat for mum.
Will definitely make a return visit.

The lakes was a beautiful place to stay. Next time we go to cairns we will mostly stay there again. We where there for a week it would of been nice to at least have one house keeping call to freshen up the place. Also have different towels for the pool.

Our room at the Lakes was very comfortable and well appointed. A very comfortable resort with lovely swimming pools. The restaurant let the experience down somewhat. The food was disapointing and given the location some lunch options would be good.

We come to Cairns every winter and stay at the lakes resort for 2 or 3 weeks.
However the Aus dollar being so strong against the NZ does make it expensive.

We were extremely happy with our accommodation. We had a lovely room overlooking the pool. The staff were very helpful and friendly spending time talking with us about various activities we were interested in. The accomodation was great with the self catering services. I would prefer the rooms being serviced at least every 2 days rather than no service at all for the whole 7 days. At least every second day the room should be checked to replace especially toiletries such as toilet tissue, shampoo, conditioner and soap.

Spacious and clean apartments with excellent kitchen facilities. Beautiful pools and grounds. Unfortunately we had a drug dealer downstairs (meth-amphetamine) and had a traumatic experience with the national Drug Squad raiding our apartment as part of their investigation.

The Lakes is a fantasic place for anyone to stay at while in Cairns!!!
The only downfall, perhaps the gym could do with updating .... add a treadmill perhaps update the equipment....
The pools were fantastic but at night, they should be a little heated, especially the spa !!! Other than that.... beautiful gardens, rooms, & overall a delight to stay at :)

Absolute beautiful setting, huge apartments only spoilt by very hard beds which were uncomfortable to us (but agree some may prefer hard beds), jet noise from the airport ensured early wake up, but we were on Top floor facing airport. TV needs upsizing. Steak sandwiches from Bistro were the best I have had. Feel free to remove my negative remarks as I would prefer to not do any harm to their patronage -yes I would stay there again (but would look at other resorts closer to city center 1st due to hard bed issue).
One suggestion would be for them to have the 2\\\" mattress covers for sale/hire as others also commented about hard beds -possibly due to some nationalities (japanese) I believe like the hard beds but did not see to many at the resort. Double glaze the windows and add insulation as they are losing business I am certain due to these 2 issues.

We spent 8 nights here with our kids in a 2 bedroomed apartment and had a fantastic stay; wish we were still there! Our apartment was immaculate and well positioned (opposite a swimming pool/BBQ area). The balcony looked out to Centenary Lakes and we enjoyed breakfast there each morning. The furniture/fixtures were delightful and we appreciated the modern bathroom and spa in the bath. Cooling has been well considered with fans and airconditioning in every room. There was plenty of parking in the underground car park. The centre of Cairns is a reasonable hike on foot so we hired a car.

The resort was great for the kids, being gated and family orientated the boys had a little freedom doing their own thing. The apartment had everything we needed and was clean and well maintained. Excellent value for money. I would recommend these apartments especially to families as they are so well equiped, a home away from home.
The only downside, a car is a must unless a poolside holiday is what you are looking for, not alot around in the way of facilities, groceries etc..

Right from booking with travstar and dealing with Natasha was great excellent service from your staff.Our stay at The Lakes Resort was tops very friendly staff very helpful as well the rooms were superb I think footstools would be great in the rooms.
Cairns is a lovely place for a holiday and I can say that taking time out to book with Travstar and just been able to walk in give them our name no hassels at all.
i would recomend to anyone wanting a real holiday to go visit Cairns.
We went out on the boat Quick Silver that wa fantastic and getting off onto the pontoon was incerdiable seeing the Great Barrier Reef was wow.

We ate lots of sea food as it was so fresh & tasty. We don’t get sea food like that at home.

The only thing wrong ---- was it wasn’t long enough!!!!

We had a very enjoyable stay. The Resort facilities were excellent. The only inconvenience was the resort is 4 KM frome Cairns city. The resort should offer a free shuttle bus instead of having to pay for the service. The cost of a taxi for family of 4 is the same as the cost the shuttie bus(one way $11). This adds extra cost on top of your accommodation. Overall we had a great time.
