Getting there is a thrill. A courtesy car will take you to the Hinterland Aviation terminal where you take a 30 minute flight over the fringing reefs and tiny islands. Landing at an outback airstrip you are escorted on the short trip by 4WD to the banks of the famous Bloomfield River. From here, the launch cruises downriver to the sea and across Weary Bay to Bloomfield Lodge.

Bloomfields peace and tranquility envelope you. At the heart is the Main Lodge with the bar and dining terrace overlooking the pool and deck area. The office and games room are also housed here.

Accommodation
The beautiful timber cabins are exquisitely furnished with natural wood and cane, cool and light with colonial-style ceiling fans and mosquito nets draped elegantly above the beds. Most have sea-facing verandahs and all have en suite facilities. The rooms are serviced daily and a complimentary guest laundry is available.

Rainforest Cabin:
Adjacent to the main lodge, Rainforest Cabins are excellent value, comfortable and convenient. Verandahs overlook lush rainforest and some have a partial sea view. All rooms have queen beds.

Queenslander Cabin:
A pretty terrace of 4 Cabins, the Queenslanders enjoy a totally unspoilt view over Weary Bay. Each room has a generous verandah and outdoor seating for relaxing after the day's activities. One separate family suite on two floors with shared bathroom. Bedding is either Queen or twin beds.

Hideaway Retreat:
These individually designed and furnished cottages are the ultimate treat at Bloomfield. Exquisitely appointed and each with its own distinct character, they have been uniquely designed to enjoy the best sea views with complete privacy. All rooms are equipped with a spa bath. These are of course in addition to the en suite facilities. All rooms have queen beds, one has a four poster bed.

Deluxe Cabin:
Larger than the Rainforest and Queenslander cabins and beautifully positioned on the hillside away from the main Lodge, Deluxe cabins are quite superb. All have private sea-facing verandahs with excellent views and a choice of queen or twin beds and sleeps up to 3 guests (at an extra charge).

Dining:
Meals are exceptional. Fresh seafood, steaks and tropical fruits and vegetables are all served in the relaxed comfort of the open-air dining room. Breakfasts consist of help yourself buffet with fresh juices, fruit, pastries and hot dishes prepared to order. Delicious set lunches are served for those staying around the Lodge, while special picnics are made up for guests taking advantage of the variety of excursions available. Evening meals alternate between delightful set menus and fabulous buffet barbecues.

Mulligans Bar is available all hours on a serve-yourself-keep-a-tab honour system. A large selection of quality wines and beers, as well as a full range of spirits are available.

Lodge Activities:
With a maximum of only 36 guests, there are no pressures, dress codes or formalities, just relax in tropical style!

Optional activities include: pool, darts, table tennis and fishing. There is a reference library with videos and an array of information on the rainforest and local history. A small gym for the energetic and relaxing aromatherapy massages are available at an extra cost.

The Guided Rainforest Walk offers a fascinating insight into the secrets of the tropical rainforest. Lasting around 2 1/2 hours, the walk is led by an experienced guide. There are also walking tracks which you are welcome to explore unescorted.

A relaxing Bloomfield River Cruise as far as the local Aboriginal community at Wujal Wajual gives you an opportunity to look out for flying foxes, crocodiles and a host of magnificent birdlife.

There are also tours available at an extra cost including Roaring Meg Falls, Cooktown, Hope Islands and Bloomfield Falls.

Transfers: All transfers to and from Bloomfield, departing from Cairns, are included in the accommodation package rates as quoted.  Transfers leave Cairns at 9am each morning, returning back to Cairns at 11am.  On rare occasions flights are required to leave at slightly different times due to tides and other considerations; this will be advised at the time of booking.

Baggage Restrictions: Due to aircraft size, baggage is restricted to one small bag per person of around 7kg. The informal dress code at Bloomfield means that travelling light does not usually cause any inconvenience.  Locked storage facilities are available at the Cairns office for any extra baggage.

Child Policy: Children under the age of 10 years are not normally catered for.
