Fitzroy Island Resort is a tropical paradise of rainforest and coral beaches within the calm sheltered waters of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
Located only 29 km off the coast of Cairns, the island is a listed National Park and has only one resort.
Just 45 minutes by boat from Cairns, Fitzroy Island Resort offers guests the opportunity to intimately discover the magic and diversity of the Great Barrier Reef from land and sea, making it the perfect base for snorkelling, diving and exploring the reef and rainforest.

Food and Drink
Foxy’s Bar and Café provide a wide range of food and drink options including Kids meals and coffee. The General Store also has a range of food, drinks and general needs including pies, sandwiches, ice-creams, BBQ packs, soft drinks and sunblock.

Additionally Beachfront Cabins are stand alone cabins in pods of 2 and are just a stones throw away from the waters edge. They are slightly larger version of the Resort Rooms. They also feature a balcony. They can also be made into a 2 Bedroom configuration which can sleep a maximum of 4. Price & availability upon application.

Two Bedroom Ocean Suites consist of an Ocean Suite and a Resort Room with a shared common entrance. Sleeps 4 to 6 guests
Resort Child Policy: A child is defined as being under 12 years of age. A child sharing a room with an adult is on a complimentary room only basis, when using existing bedding. Should a rollaway be required the additional person rate applies.
THINGS TO DO:
The resort itself has a fabulous pool, swim up pool bar, cinema and small supermarket that stocks the basics.
Please note that if you do intend on self catering, it may be an idea to bring some food with you from the mainland.
The island is surrounded in beautiful fringing reefs which are teeming with marine life. The best snorkelling is off the rocks between Welcome Bay and Nudey Beach. Expect to see Turtles, tropical fish and many colourful corals.
Free Activities:
Rainforest walking trails -Fitzroy Island is covered with magnificent rainforest and features many walking tracks ranging from a short stroll to Nudey Beach through to a more challenging hike to the Summit. Secret Garden 1km, Lighthouse 3.6km, Summit 2.6km return, Nudey Beach Track 1.2km.
In-house Cinema - Operates daily -1pm, 4pm, 7.30pm., the cinema screens some of your favourite movies throughout the day and evening.
Fish Feeding - Enjoy this unique experience as we feed the fish from the jetty and shore as they swim amongst your legs. Feeding times are twice daily, at the end of the Fitzroy Island Jetty -11:30am & 4.00pm
Whale watching: July to September - recommended viewing from the Lighthouse.
Video Games Room - Just in case the kids have had enough of swimming and exploring the island, the games room has a selection of Puzzle Boards, Board Games, Books, old and new favourites for both little and big!
Fitzroy Island Adventure Centre - (charges apply)
- Scuba Diving: Fitzroy Island is a continental Island with fringing reef, it is a unique and diverse breeding ground for the Great Barrier Reef. Located approximately 29 kms around Cape Grafton from Cairns, the gateway to the Barrier Reef. At Fitzroy Island there is a fully equipped dive shop and professional team to cater for diving and training.
Diving activities include: Introductory Diving, Certified Diving, Learn to Dive, Advanced Courses, Rescue Courses, Divemaster Courses, Instructor Courses, Outer Reef Diving - Kayaking

GETTING THERE & AWAY:
A ferry ride from the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal Marina takes approximately 45 minutes. Check-in at least 30 minutes prior to departure.
**Please be mindful of ferry times when booking flights
Sunlover Ferry departs Cairns Marina daily at 9:30am (check-in Reef Fleet Terminal) and departs Fitzroy at 4:30pm.
Fitzroy Fast Cat Ferry departs Cairns Marina (check-in onboard at Marlin Jetty near Reef Fleet Terminal) daily at 8am, 11am, 1:30pm and departs Fitzroy at 9:30am, 12:15pm, 5pm.
Raging Thunder Ferry departs Cairns (check-in Reef Fleet Terminal) daily at 9am and departs Fitzroy at 4:30pm.
Check In/Out:
- Check In: 02:00pm. Pool towels and changing facilities are made available for early ferry arrivals.
- Check Out: 10:00am. Bag storage and change facilities are available for guests departing on the last ferry.

The unit was unbelievable, traveling mid-week was fantastic as well. Had no trouble making reservations at the restaurants, and the inclusion of transfers and the reef cruise were awesome. It was my first time in Northern QLD and I will certainly be back.

Fitzroy island is a beautiful paradise with local snorkelling and outer reef trips. Staff very friendly and accommodating and the rooms finished with high quality furnishings. Meals (although fairly pricey) were presented beautifully. We had a 40th Anniversary to remember. Thankyou.
