Day One: Ocean Spirit Reef Cruise

The Ocean Spirit Upolu & Oyster Reef trip visits two beautiful destinations. Oyster Reef is a shallow clear reef abundant with marine life, offering both snorkellers and divers protected waters in which to experience the true wonders of the reef.  Upolu Reef is the second destination and is a naturally formed sand island, a picture perfect destination.

Set sail and enjoy an unforgettable reef experience. During the cruise out an informative safety, environmental and ecological presentation is given, with just the right amount of humor.

After your snorkelling experience at Oyster Reef, the cruise takes you to Upolu Cay which is a small coral cay of white sand with fringing reef 16 nautical miles from Cairns. This is a spectacular destination with protected, shallow, warm waters to enjoy snorkelling and swimming.  You can be as active or relaxed as you like on this trip.

There is plenty of time to snorkel or dive.  You will see coral shelves and bommies which are very colorful and diverse with soft and hard coral varieties in all colours of the spectrum.  These are home to thousands of tropical fish in all sizes, shapes and forms. 

Lunch is prepared on board by the chef and consists of a variety of salads, cold meats and seafood making it the perfect tropical smorgasboard.  There is a licensed bar selling cold drinks all day. 

Afternoon tea is fresh baked cake and tea/coffee.

Day Two: Kuranda Skyrail & Train

Enjoy a spectacular scenic journey to Kuranda, combining the Kuranda Scenic Rail and the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway into a great budget day trip.

The budget package includes a transfer from your accommodation to the Skyrail Terminal. You will journey up the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway which spans 7.5kms over pristine rainforest.

Gliding just metres above the rainforest canopy in comfortable six-person gondola cabins, the Skyrail journey will immerse you in an intimate rainforest experience. Enjoy the stunning rainforest scenery, panoramic views of the Cairns’ tropical region and the glittering waters of the Coral Sea.

During your Skyrail journey you will have time to explore two on the rainforest mid-stations - Red Peak and Barron Falls, where you can explore the forest floor on boardwalks, view the scenic look-outs and spend time in the state-of-the-art Rainforest Interpretive Centre.

Kuranda Village is a quaint little township in the rainforest, situated where both Skyrail and the Kuranda Scenic Train journeys terminate.

Kuranda Village is famous for arts and crafts and indigenous artifacts and the excellent attractions of the Butterfly Sanctuary, Koala Gardens, Birdworld and the Aviary. You can purchase a Kuranda Wildlife Experience Pass, which will give you access to all three attracions at a great saving off the normal admission price.

The original Kuranda markets are held Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Heritage Markets open daily.

At your chosen time of 2:00pm or 3:30pm board the Kuranda Scenic Train for your return journey. The Kuranda Scenic Railway is a spectacular journey offering views of World Heritage Listed rainforest, steep ravines and picturesque waterfalls within the Barron Gorge National Park. This famous railway winds its way from Kuranda to Cairns. You will arrive into Cairns Central Station at 3:40pm or 5:10pm.

Itinerary:
The budget tour option includes a coach pickup from your accommodation to the Skyrail Terminal, returning on the Scenic Rail at 2:00pm or 3:30pm. This tour terminates at the Cairns Railway Station.
