Explore Cooktown on this 2 Day / 1 Night Explorer. Travel along one of Australia's most scenic coastal drives, journey on the 4WD only Bloomfield track and witness some of the most incredible scenery. You will have plenty of free time to explore Cooktown.

Day 1 -Cairns to Cooktown
You will be collected by air-conditioned (4WD) vehicle and travel north along the Captain Cook Highway, one of Australia’s most scenic coastal routes towards the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park, crossing the mighty Daintree River by cable ferry.
The morning tea stop is at “Heritage Lodge” in Cape Tribulation. Continue north as your experienced guide will enlighten your journey with incredible stories and history of the 4WD only Bloomfield Track, crossings rivers and climbing mountain ranges.
Stop for lunch the acclaimed Lion’s Den Hotel (EST 1875), North Queensland’s oldest running bush pubs. Continue to the unique geological oddity, which is Black Mountain, surrounded in mystery and spoken of in ancient Aboriginal legend. Arriving in Cooktown make sure your camera is ready for 360 degree panoramic views from Grassy Hill of Cooktown, the Coral Sea and the Endeavour River. Transfer to your overnight accommodation in Cooktown.
Day 2 - Cooktown to Cairns
Free Day to explore Cooktown or take the optional Aboriginal Rock Art tour with Guurrbi Tours- award winning Aboriginal Elder, Willie Gordon. (see below optional extra cost)
Visit the World Class James Cook Museum or stroll along the shores of the Endeavour River. The unique charm and historic atmosphere of the main street still prevails. You can experience the unspoilt beauty of the area, which remains much the same as when Captain Cook knew it in 1770.
Late in the afternoon depart Cooktown via the inland road, The Mulligan Highway, travelling through a diverse landscape of cattle stations and the Palmer River Gold mine region, which is the Outback of Far North Queensland. Stop for dinner (at your own expense) at the authentic Queenslander pub in the old mining town of Mount Carbine.
Your tour comes to a completion as you are taken to your accommodation in Cairns or Port Douglas.

This was an excellent trip. Darryl (driver) was very friendly and provided a very informative commentary which added greatly to our enjoyment. We were glad we opted for the 2 day trip so that we were able to enjoy Cooktown as well as the drive up the Bloomfield track
