The Adventure North Cape Trib & Cooktown Wanderer is for the independent traveller who wants free time to explore and relax in Cape Tribulation & Cooktown. Accommodation and key highlights are included, most meals are at own expense.

Departs: Wednesday and Sunday

Itinerary:

Day 1 - Cairns to Cape Tribulation

  • This morning you will be collected by Billy Tea Bush Safaris. Courtesy pickup from Cairns & Port Douglas accommodation
  • Scenic coastal drive
  • Daintree River Cruise - informative one hour river cruise. Learn of Estuarine Crocodiles, mangrove forests and wildlife, this is nature at its best
  • Cable Ferry
  • Alexandra Range Lookout - panoramic view of World Heritage Tropical Rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea
  • Guided Boardwalk tour
  • Tropical BBQ Lunch with freshly prepared salads. Have the opportunity to hand feed a kangaroo
  • Go further beyond Cape Tribulation along the 4WD Bloomfield Track to pristine Emmagen Creek where it is time for a refreshing rainforest stream swim.
  • Indulge in a feast of tropical fruit, a complimentary glass of wine and a cup of traditional Billy Tea
  • Overnight Cape Tribulation

Day 2  -  Cape Tribulation to Cooktown

  • You will be collected from your accommodation by Adventure North
  • 4WD-only Bloomfield Track - travel over rugged mountain ranges and river crossings
  • Lunch at famous Lions Den Hotel (one of North Queensland’s oldest running bush pubs est.. 1875)
  • Mysterious Black Mountains steeped in Aboriginal legend,
  • Grassy Hill - enjoy 360 degree panoramic views of Cooktown, the Endeavour River and the Coral Sea
  • Overnight Cooktown

Day 3 - Cooktown to Port Douglas & Cairns

  • Free day to explore Cooktown
  • Visit the World Class James Cook Museum (extra cost) or stroll along the shores of the Endeavour River.  The main street has a charm and historical atmosphere. You can experience the unspoilt beauty of the area, which remains much the same as when Captain Cook landed his stranded ship in 1770.
  • Optional tours (extra cost) including Aboriginal Rock Art, River & Reef Fishing tours, Sightseeing tours
  • Mulligan Highway - inland road of outback of Far North QLD
  • Dinner at historic Mt Molloy Pub (own expense)

Things to see and do in Cooktown
Cooktown is one Australia’s most historically significant townships, Cooktown is the location where Captain James Cook spent almost seven weeks repairing his vessel, the HM Bark Endeavour.
Some of the most extraordinary discoveries and interactions with local Aboriginal people occurred here in 1770 but… the history is just beginning…
Cooktown provides something for everyone including exquisite botanic gardens, heritage listed buildings, museums, beaches, waterfalls, beautiful bushwalking trails, stunning bird watching and great fishing – A truly unique travel destination.

Optional Tour (extra cost) - GUURRBI TOURS-Rainbow Serpent Rock Art Tour 7.45am-1.15pm (April to November)
Join Nugal-warra Elder, Willie Gordon on a magical journey of storey and dreaming, birthing and beginning taking you to visit the rock art sites on his traditional country outside Hope Vale Aboriginal Community.

  • Tours subject to weather conditions, if the Bloomfield Track is closed or safety considerations arise, an alternative route via the Mulligan Highway will be taken.
