Situated just 20 minutes from Cairns CBD, the Cairns Tropical Zoo is the largest and most diverse wildlife attraction in Tropical North Queensland.

Set amidst six hectares of tropically landscaped gardens, this locally owned and operated zoo is home to hundreds of native and exotic species, many of which are indigenous to our northern wet tropics.

As you meander through the Zoo’s award winning tropical gardens, discover fascinating and rare animals both from Australia and other regions of the world such as Nepalese Red Pandas and Ring-tailed Lemurs. You can feed a kangaroo, see giant crocodiles and enjoy great wildlife presentations and tours. There’s also an opportunity for a 'cuddle a Koala' photo opportunity at an additional cost.

Crocodiles: - Saltwater and Freshwater varieties, Alligators

Birds: Cockatoos, Raptors, Parrots, Emus, Cassowaries, Brolgas, Pelicans, water birds, finches and more

Mammals: Koalas, Wombats (Common, Southern Hairy Nose),

Macropods: Eastern Grey, Agile, Pademelons, Cotton Top Tamarins, Red Pandas, Lemurs, Dingoes, possums and more.. 

A wide range of wildlife displays and wildlife presentations takes place daily by a dedicated team of wildlife keepers.

Cairns Tropical Zoo ensures there are no barriers to enjoyment with all facilities incorporating easy access design. All of the shows and exhibits - in fact everything at the Zoo - is wheelchair accessible.

Breakfast Time at the Zoo:
Get a wild start to the day and have breakfast with a koala, a python, and other inquisitive animals. Breakfast is a fully cooked breakfast, plus fresh fruit, fruit juice, cereals, toasts and spread, tea or coffee.

During breakfast one of the wildlife keepers will be there to answer all of your ‘wildlife’ questions. It’s a great opportunity to get close to koalas, snakes - and keepers. Afterwards, you can enjoy all the wildlife experiences within Cairns Tropical Zoo.

Breakfast Time At The Zoo is on every day from 8.30am for self drive visitors and bookings are requested.

Great Australian Wildlife Experience:
Admission to Cairns Tropical Zoo AND Hartley's Crocodile Adventures. Use this great two attraction pass over a 3 day period.

Zoo Opening Times: 8:30am to 4.00pm daily (closed Christmas Day)

Location: Cairns Tropical Zoo is just 20 minutes drive north of Cairns, and 35 minutes south of Port Douglas at Palm Cove on the Captain Cook Highway.

Program:  The presentation program features a variety of activity throughout the day including Kangaroo Feeding, Pelican Feeding, Free Flight Bird Show, Koalas and Wombats, Snakes, Crocodiles and Endangered Exotic Species talk.

Kangaroo Food: $1 per bag (special grain to hand feed tame kangaroos)

Child rate: children 4 - 15 years
