Green Island Discovery - Cairns

Green Island is a 6000 year old coral cay and National Park located right on Australia's beautiful Great Barrier Reef. This idyllic island has delightful sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and magical rainforest for an island escape like no other.

Great Adventures has state of the art, high-speed catamarans transporting passengers to their destination in luxurious comfort.

Passengers can relax on the sheltered beach with plenty of shady retreats or snorkel & swim in the cool island waters before enjoying a delicious buffet lunch.

Great Adventures offers two key packages:-

The ferry departs Cairns at 8:30am and 10.30am and departs Green Island at 2:30pm and 4:30pm. Ferry transfers are 45 minutes each way and passengers have at least 5 hours on the island.

Half day trip departures from Cairns are at 8:30am and 1:00pm, returning at 12:30pm and 5:15pm.

Lunch Options (at own cost):

Guests can choose from a range of delicious and affordable meal and snack options from Green Island’s restaurant and food outlets.

Canopy Grill: Café style lunch such as burgers and chips or wraps.
Aussie Buffet: This delicious hot and cold buffet is served from the Canopy Grill.
Emeralds Restaurant: A la carte dining or set course menus.
Lite Bites: Icecreams, shakes and snack food.
Reflections Pool Bar: Refreshing drinks, specialty cocktails, coffees. Reflections Pool Bar and Emeralds Restaurant are fully licenced.

Green Island Beach Hire:
Visitors can enjoy activities such as canoeing, surf skiing and windsurfing, or relax with a cold drink on your own personal sun lounge with Parasol. *See Green Island Beach Hire on the beach.

Diving and Snorkeling:
Great Diving Adventures offers scuba diving for both introductory and certified divers at Green Island. No experience is necessary to take a fully supervised introductory dive.  Guided snorkel tours are also conducted and are highly recommended. They are a great way to maximise your experience on the Great Barrier Reef.

Marineland Melanesia:
This amazing nautical museum offers visitors ocean aquariums, marine artifacts and an impressive collection of ancestral images from Asia and the Indo-Pacific. It is also home to Cassuis and other huge crocodiles.

Underwater Observatory:
Located on the Green Island Jetty, this was the first Underwater Observatory in the world. It was converted from an old diving chamber used during World War 1 in 1954.

Green Island Parasailing:
Enjoy spectacular views of Green Island and the Great Barrier Reef on this Exhilarating flight. No experience is necessary.

Seawalker:
From start to finish, the Seawalker experience takes between 45 and 55 minutes. It is a fully guided underwater experience where your face stays dry and you walk underwater on the sea floor (not on an artificial platform) surrounded by fish and marine life at the beautiful coral garden.
