This special tour is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Not so long ago, and even today during the wet, a tour such as this would have been impossible. Daintree Air offers an impressive itinerary to the tip of Australia, all jam packed into one unforgettable day!
Itinerary:
Depart Cairns Airport for a low level flight all the way to Cape York Peninsular. You will have ample opportunities to photograph the spectacular landscapes as you fly over Port Douglas, the Daintree, Cape Tribulation, and Cooktown, followed by the coloured Sands of Cape Flattery and Cape Bedford.
The flight then follows onto The Turtle Group of Islands including Nymph and the Howick Group Of Islands then on to Cape Melville, the famous Bathurst Bay where Australia's largest ever maritime disaster took place - over seventy ships destroyed in one night. From Bathurst Bay fly over Princess Charlotte Bay, where you will see the largest Reefs of the Great Barrier Reef like Magpie and Corbett, which are up to twenty miles in length.
The flight then passes on to Cape Direction, Lockhart River Aboriginal Community, and Restoration Island made famous by Capt.Bligh after he was cast off the Bounty by Fletcher Christian. After Restoration Island enjoy an eagles eye view of Temple Bay, site of the Proposed Cape York Space Base. Cape Grenville is the next point of interest, where you will see the remains of several Air Cobras, which were ditched during the Second World War.
Witness pristine white beaches of Shelburne Bay, along the Escape and the Kennedy Rivers before landing at Injinoo Airport at Bamaga. On arrival at Bamaga a vehicle will be waiting at Injinoo to transfer you to The Northern Most Point Of The Australian Continent with a local guide. (Approximately 2.5 hours).
Drive through the Lockerbie Scrub and a pocket of Northern Rainforest, on the way to Frangipani beach, which is Australia's most northern beach. From here you will then leave the vehicle and take a short stroll up to The Tip Of Cape York. Just three and a half hours after leaving Cairns you will reach your destination - the Most Northern Point of the Australian Continent!
The views are panoramic as you look across to York Island. You have plenty of time to sit on the rocks and sip on champagne if you wish. After you have walked on the top of Australia the 4WD will take you back along the road towards Bamaga. A picnic lunch is prepared before driving back to the airport to meet your aircraft for your return flight via the outer barrier reef.
