The first step in the next stage of the Tjapukai redevelopment project is the closure of the current Creation Theatre Show on Tuesday the 21st January. The show in its present form, has run for 18 years since 1996 and opened with the latest holographic technology of the time, blended with choreographed theatre and for the first time, a script written in Djabugay language. Tjapukai will continue to tell the ancient and powerful creation stories through a new product 'Art of My People' which will replace the Creation Theatre until it reopens in its revitalised form from mid-2014. Art of My People- explains the varying styles of Australian Indigenous Art including the role of 'Totems' and the types of artistic expression used by the 'Bama Way' to identify tribes, languages, dialects and geographical landscapes. Seger Thei-um (Sea Breeze Spirit)- showcases a new style of indigenous dancing at Tjapukai. The Torres Strait Island performers showcase the distinct cultural connection between the people, the land, wind and the sea in a spectacular musical and dance show.
