Day One:  Arrive into Cairns, check into Floriana Guesthouse

Built by a musically gifted Maltese family in the late 1930's, Floriana is a very small family run Heritage listed Budget Guesthouse.

Floriana is perfect for travellers who enjoy a budget, boutique guesthouse.  Located only a 20 minute walk from the main restaurant precinct of the Cairns Esplanade and 25 minutes walk from the Reef Fleet Terminal.     

Floriana features an internal circular staircase leading to 4 studio rooms.  It is possible to upgrade to a Studio flat with little kitchen and lounge for small additional cost.

Step back in time.  There is a pianola in the foyer and a dining table at the front of the building where you can enjoy a meal with a lovely vista. 

The pool area is popular for guests who enjoy using the BBQ in the evenings.  There is a Spa, Waterfall and deep pool with shallow section for people working on their tan.  There is plenty of outdoor seating. 

Reception is open from 4pm to 7pm in the evenings. 

Day Two:  EVOLUTION - Outer Barrier Reef trip: 

Walk along the pretty Cairns Esplanade to the Reef Fleet Terminal where you board the Evolution. 

Be one of the first guests on the new $5 million catamaran - Evolution!!    

Evolution is quick, taking only 80 minutes to get to the Outer Reef.  

Evolution travels to two different reef destinations.  Norman & Saxon in the morning and Hastings Reef in the afternoon.  There are no islands and no pontoons.  The Outer Reef is spectacular! 

Reef sites are chosen on the day to ensure the best protection and underwater visibility according to weather conditions.  Expect to see spectacular coral formations and masses of brilliantly coloured fish.

**Important information you need to know about snorkelling and diving. 

  • Be aware snorkelling & diving may be a strenuous activity - All snorkelling & diving are subject to completion of onboard medical questionnaire /declaration.
  • A history of asthma, diabetes, ear, epilepsy, heart, pregnancy, recent operations and other medical conditions and medications may preclude a passenger from diving. Please discuss existing medical conditions with staff prior to travel. Or if in doubt, please visit your local dive doctor to get a medical clearance.
  • Diving minimum age is 12 years and maximum age is 65 years
  • Certified divers must show an internationally recognised scuba card.
  • In the interests of safety we recommend no flying within 24hours of last dive.
  • All trips/dives are weather permitting at captains/drivers discretion- No refund for incomplete dives.
  • Should a trip be cancelled passengers will be offered an alternative day of travel or a full refund
  • Semi sub will operate subject to weather conditions.

Day Three:  FOOD TRAIL TOURS Tablelands Food & Wine Tour

Explore the Atherton Tablelands while enjoying the Food and Wine.  

Visit our rich agricultural lands on the Tablelands.

You will visit both the wet and dry tropics, the tablelands towns of Mareeba, Tolga and Yungaburra. Tasting excellent commercial produce, and meeting local people, are all part of this unique and personalised tour.

European cheese and chocolate makers, with a passion for fine food produce new and traditional cheeses, plus hand made chocolates. You can view the cheese factory and stroll over to the shed where the cows are being milked.  Enjoy a Devonshire tea, cheese tastings and if you're lucky a bit of chocolate.

deBrueys Boutique Wines produce tropical fruit wines, ports and liquers.  Exotic tropical fruits such as Mangos, lychees, passionfruit, jaboticaba and native fruits produce a wide selection of wines.  You will be invited to sample Bob and Elaine de Brueys range and you may purchase at the cellar door.  Take some back to your hotel to enjoy with cheese or have it packed and sent direct to your home.

Hear all about the macadamia industry at Wondaree Macadamia Plantation.  Around Greg's farm and under the trees your informative tour explains how they grow and harvest this Australian bush nut. Tastings are provided for your enjoyment and Macadamias can be purchased direct from the farmer. 

Coffee Plantation Tour and Tasting.  Learn about different coffee roasts and indulge your taste buds with a cup of coffee made by Maria.  Bruno and Maria Maloberti are passionate about coffee and control their coffee from tree to cup in an organic classic italian style. 

This tour departs daily except Sunday.

There are 21 passenger seats on this tour. Keeping it small, means you will have a relaxed and personalised day.

What to bring:  Please wear comfortable casual clothes, and walking shoes. We also recommend you bring a shady hat, at any time of year, and a warm jacket between May and September.

Day Four:  BILLY TEA BUSH SAFARIS - Cape Tribulation

Billy Tea Safaris is a locally owned operator, which operates small personalised tours to Cape Tribulation.  Your naturalist guides have extensive knowledge of flora, fauna, history of the area and aboriginal culture, which will ensure you day will be a memory of a life time.

Your Day: 

Drive north along the scenic coastal route along the Captain Cook Highway learning about the history of the area and admiring spectacular views of the coast line and Coral Sea.

Stop at the Majestic Daintree River for Morning Tea before enjoying a guided River Cruise on the Daintree River. Learn of Estuarine Crocodiles, mangrove forests and endemic wildlife. 

Ascend the Alexandra Range and pause for a panoramic view of World Heritage Rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea.  Experience the rainforest on one of the guided elevated Boardwalks.

Travel onto Lync Haven animal refuge where you have the opportunity to hand feed a kangaroo and get up close to some of Australia‚Äôs wildlife.  Enjoy a gourmet barbecue lunch with freshly prepared salads in a beautiful rainforest setting restaurant. 

Travel through spectacular Rainforest as you pass Cape Tribulation and continue along the 4WD Bloomfield Track through to Emmagen Creek. Time for a refreshing rainforest stream swim, in crystal clear freshwaters. 

Visit Cape Tribulation Beach .  Stroll along the beach and boardwalk to the photographers' platform overlooking the mountains and coast where the 'Rainforest meets the Reef'

Time permitting stop at the Daintree Ice Cream Factory. Your taste buds will be tantalized with exotic tropical fruit home-made ice cream. Sample unique flavours, such as Black Sapote, Soursop, and Coconut just to name a few. (Additional cost)

After a short afternoon refreshment stop, cross the Daintree River by cable ferry and begin the homeward journey.

Please Note: This tour runs in reverse occasionally.

Day Five, Six and Seven:  Relax or explore our beautiful area and beaches

Package includes accommodation and tours but does not include Airport Transfers or any meals besides breakfast & lunch included on the reef cruise and food provided on the Food Trails and Billy Tea tour. You can start this package any day of the week.  We can book your itinerary so that you have days off between each tour.  Subject to availability we can also change tour days if requested.
