The Cairns Getaway Package is an ideal option for those who simply want to escape for a short break or weekend to the beautiful tropical north.

This package combines a stay at The Hotel Cairns, with a relaxing day at famous Green Island followed by the famous Train and Skyrail experience to Kuranda.

Day One: Arrive into Cairns, check into The Hotel Cairns
*Upgrade to Deluxe Tower Room includng FULL breakfast daily for $39/person in total*

Day Two: Green Island Day trip including glass bottom boat tour or snorkelling gear

Green Island is the only coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef with a rainforest growing on it, which is home to 126 native plant species, colourful birdlife, surrounded by magnificent coral gardens and is some 15 hectares (approx 37 acres) in size.

With the choice of three daily departures, this Green Island cruise is perfect for visitors with limited time, offering a half or full day experience. With a range of exciting optional activities, you can design your day at your own pace. You'll also have the choice of glass bottom boat coral viewing or snorkelling equipment.

You can spend from as little as 2 & 1/2 hours and up to 7 hours at Green Island, depending on the departure times that you select. We do need to book return times when making the reservation, however you can change your return times at a later time subject to availability.

There are a few optional activities you might like to try on the island. 

There is Marineland Melanesia which is a Crocodile and marine life habit, along with a small museum also (this is an extra cost).  They have a crocodile feeding show, and also feed the turtles for you.  You can even have your photo taken holding a baby crocodile which the kids absolutely love! There is also an underwater observatory at the very end of the jetty at Green Island where they can see Nemo (the famous clown fish).

For an additional cost it is possible to arrange coach transfers from The Hotel Cairns however it is not really necessary.  It is only a 12 minute walk to the Marina from The Hotel Cairns.   

Day Three: Kuranda Train & Skyrail

The Kuranda Scenic Railway is a spectacular journey offering views of World Heritage Listed rainforest, steep ravines and picturesque waterfalls within the Barron Gorge National Park.

This famous railway winds its way from Cairns to Kuranda. Kuranda Village is a quaint little township in the rainforest, situated where both Skyrail and the Kuranda Scenic Train journeys terminate.

Kuranda Village is famous for arts and crafts and indigenous artifacts and the excellent attractions of the Butterfly Sanctuary, Koala Gardens, Birdworld and the Aviary. The original Kuranda markets are held Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Heritage Markets open daily.

Your return journey is via the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway which spans 7.5kms over pristine rainforest. Gliding just metres above the rainforest canopy in comfortable six-person gondola cabins, the Skyrail journey will immerse you in an intimate rainforest experience. Enjoy the stunning rainforest scenery, panoramic views of the Cairns’ tropical region and the glittering waters of the Coral Sea.

During your Skyrail journey you will have time to explore two on the rainforest mid-stations - Red Peak and Barron Falls, where you can explore the forest floor on boardwalks, view the scenic look-outs and spend time in the state-of-the-art Rainforest Interpretive Centre.

The Smart Car is available at The Hotel Cairns Reception and can be collected from 7am to 7pm or as arranged with the Front Desk or Reservations. Can seat 2 people only.
