Day One: Arrive into Cairns, check into Floriana Guest House

Built by a musically gifted Maltese family in the late 1930's, Floriana is a very small family run Budget Guesthouse.

Floriana is perfect for travellers who enjoy a budget, boutique guesthouse.  Located only a 20 minute walk from the main restaurant precinct of the Cairns Esplanade and 25 minutes walk from the Reef Fleet Terminal.     

Floriana features an internal circular staircase leading to 4 studio rooms.  It is possible to upgrade to a Studio flat, please enquire for costings...

Step back in time.  There are no telephones in the rooms.   There is a pianola in the foyer and a dining table at the front of the building where you can enjoy a meal with a lovely vista. 

The pool area is very large with a raised Spa, Waterfall and deep pool with shallow section for people working on their tan.  There is plenty of outdoor seating and a B.B.Q. near the pool in the garden.

Day Two: Ocean Free Green Island Reef Cruise

Make your way to the A Finger on the Marlin Marina for boarding the Ocean Free at 7:30am.  The Ocean Free is a beautiful 63ft schooner, which sails daily to tropical "Green Island" on the Great Barrier Reef. This is the only boat operating out of Cairns to offer a personalised reef, sail and island experience all in the one tour.

A private mooring just 1km off the island at "Pinnacle Reef " is where you will spend over four hours giving plenty of time to snorkel, complete 2 dives, have lunch, explore the island or just laze on the white sandy beach.

After leaving the marina you can assist with the hoisting of the sails, and after an introductory dive brief - you can just kick back and enjoy the trip to the reef. For those wishing to dive, the paperwork and briefs are completed on the journey out there, so on arrival at Pinnacle Reef you are ready to dive!

Green Island and Pinnacle Reef are highly protected areas with no fishing allowed; therefore the fish life is extremely abundant and quite amazing. On mooring you will be met by "Oscar" the Chinaman and his mates - the schools of spangled emperors, yellow tailed fuseliers, spanish mackerel, batfish to name just a few.

Scuba Diving (extra cost)
Ocean Free takes your enjoyment and safety of diving very seriously. Your personalised crew specialises in first time divers with a high ratio of dive instructor to diver 1:3 to maximum your experience and enjoyment.  All certified dives include a dive guide, let the crew really show you the reef!

Following the morning's snorkelling and diving, enjoy a smorgasbord lunch of tropical salads and cold meats, after which transfers to the island begin - look out for turtles on the way!

Time spent between the reef and island is flexible to ensure that you get what you want out of the day.

You have the option to:

• Spend the rest of the time on Green Island.
• Spend an hour on Green Island and return to the boat to do more snorkelling/diving on the reef.
• Remain on the boat...The choice is yours!

On Green Island:

• Wander along the beautiful white beach at Green Island.
• Visit Marineland Melanesia.
• Grab an ice-cream or just laze on the tropical beach.
• Walk across or around Green Island, view the bird life and vegetation.

The journey home is definitly something to look forward to...

Enjoy a glass of wine, tropical fruit, cake and a cheese platter as you sail home into the sunset (wind prevailing).

Departures:
A Finger - No. 4 at the Marlin Marina, Cairns.  Allow about 25 minutes stroll to the marina from Floriana. 
Board at 7:30am for an 8:00am departure - coffee, tea and muffins on boarding.

Day Three: Tablelands & Waterfalls Adventure

Come with Cape Trib Connections for a fun filled day where you will see the best of the Tablelands and gain the best value out of this packed itinerary!

Your day commences as you journey south of Cairns to Babinda Boulders. Babinda Boulders is a popular swimming hole and picnic area for locals and tourists, and a place of spiritual significance for Aboriginal people. Your guide will explain the Aboriginal significance of this area before a short 1.3km return walk to the Devil's Pool which leads through the rainforest to two viewing platforms. From the platform view the creek as it cascades down a series of spectacular waterfalls, granite boulders and washpools.

From here journey further south to Josephine Falls - a picturesque waterfall fed by rains falling on Queensland’s highest mountain, Bartle Frere, which looms above this popular picnic area. A track will lead you through lush tropical rainforest, to viewing decks overlooking the Josephine Creek and Falls, where there are excellent photographic opportunities. Below the falls are several swimming holes surrounded by boulders and a popular water slide down a smooth sloping rock face between pools. Remember to bring your swimmers for a very refreshing swim!

Starting at Innisfail, the Palmerston Highway stretches through Wet Tropics rainforests of Johnstone River Valley to Millaa Millaa and the spectacular Millaa Millaa falls. Although this is the longest route from Cairns to the Atherton Tablelands, many people believe it is the most scenic drive. The Atherton Tablelands is home to World Heritage listed rainforests, national parks, mountains, rivers, lakes and waterfalls. It is also rated as one of the richest agricultural plains in Australia.This is Australian countryside at its very best, and a visit to Gallo Dairyland is not to be missed!

With European cheese makers developing new and unusual cheeses, alongside the old favourites, your visit to Gallo Dairyland will be fascinating and very tasty. Then of course there is the chocolate, which really needs little introduction...

After indulging on cheese and chocolate and lunch at Malanda Pub (own expense) its time for more beautiful waterfalls. Millaa Millaa Falls is a magnificent waterfalls surrounded by lush rainforest. The falls cascade perfectly to a pristine waterhole below where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the cool water. It is one of the most photographed in all of Australia, so make sure you bring your camera!

Following this will be a visit to Lake Eacham which is an extinct volcanic crater lake filled with cool, clean, crystal clear water, surrounded by 1200acres of lush tropical highland rainforest. The peacefulness and tranquillity of Lake Eacham is an amazing wonder. Saw-shelled turtles are commonly seen in Lake Eacham, paddling over to visitors when they appear.

Bring swimming costumes, towel, walking shoes, change of clothes and a smile - experience a day you'll remember for years. Stop along the way so you can buy lunch or bring your own packed lunch. This way we can keep the prices down. Depart Cairns by 7:45am and return by 8:00pm.
