Day 1: Arrive into Cairns and check into the Southern Cross Apartments - Pool View Studio.

Designed in a modern 'Atrium Style' Southern Cross Apartments Cairns are built around a recreational spa, lap sized swimming pool, tropical pool, gym and beautifully landscaped barbeque area that pays homage to our tropical lifestyle.

Located only steps from Cairns Central Shopping Centre and Railway Station, and just a few minutes walk to the city centre and recently transformed Cairns Esplanade, the Southern Cross offers an ideal inner city location to base all your sightseeing activities from.

Pool View studios are either on the ground level with direct pool access or on an upper level with balcony.

Day 2: Ocean Free Reef & Green Island Sailing

"Ocean Free" a beautiful 63ft schooner, which sails daily to tropical "Green Island" on the Great Barrier Reef. This is the only boat operating out of Cairns to offer a personalised reef, sail and island experience all in the one tour.

After leaving the marina you can assist with the hoisting of the sails, and after an introductory /safety and dive brief - you can just kick back and enjoy the trip to the reef.

A private mooring just 1km off the island at "Pinnacle Reef " is where you will spend over 4 1/2 hrs giving plenty of time to snorkel, complete 2 dives, have lunch, explore the island or just laze on the white sandy beach.

Following the morning's snorkelling and diving, enjoy a smorgasbord lunch of tropical salads and cold meats. Vegetarians can enjoy three salads, and you may also pre-order a vegetarian meal with your booking for no additional cost. After lunch transfers to the island begin - look out for turtles on the way!

You have the option to:

• Spend the rest of the time on the island.
• Spend an hour on the island and return to the boat to do more snorkelling and /or diving from the boat.
• Remain on the boat

On Green Island:

• Wander along the beautiful white beach.
• Walk across or around the island; view the bird life and vegetation.
• Visit Marineland Melanesia.

The journey home is defiantly something to look forward to! Enjoy a glass of wine, tropical fruit, cake and a cheese platter as you sail home into the sunset (wind prevailing).

Boarding time is 7.30 am from the 'A' Finger Marlin Marina berth 4 for an 8:00am departure.

Day 3: Kuranda Skyrail & Train

The Kuranda Skyrail & Train pack includes a transfer from your accommodation to the Skyrail Terminal. You will journey up the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway which spans 7.5kms over pristine rainforest. Gliding just metres above the rainforest canopy in comfortable six-person gondola cabins, the Skyrail journey will immerse you in an intimate rainforest experience. Enjoy the stunning rainforest scenery, panoramic views of the Cairns’ tropical region and the glittering waters of the Coral Sea.

During your Skyrail journey you will have time to explore two on the rainforest mid-stations - Red Peak and Barron Falls, where you can explore the forest floor on boardwalks, view the scenic look-outs and spend time in the state-of-the-art Rainforest Interpretive Centre.

Kuranda Village is a quaint little township in the rainforest, situated where both Skyrail and the Kuranda Scenic Train journeys terminate. Kuranda Village is famous for arts and crafts and indigenous artifacts and the excellent attractions of the Butterfly Sanctuary, Koala Gardens, Birdworld and the Aviary. The original Kuranda markets are held Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Heritage Markets open daily.

At your chosen time of 2:00pm or 3:30pm board the Kuranda Scenic Train for your return journey. The Kuranda Scenic Railway is a spectacular journey offering views of World Heritage Listed rainforest, steep ravines and picturesque waterfalls within the Barron Gorge National Park. This famous railway winds its way from Kuranda to Cairns. You will arrive into Cairns Central Station at 5:15pm and it is just a short wonder back to your accommodation next door at the Southern Cross.

Departure options are at 9:45am or 10:45am pick up from the Southern Cross, returning on the Scenic Rail at 2:00pm or 3:30pm. This tour terminates at the Cairns Railway Station.

Day 4: Cape Tribulation & Daintree Rainforest 4WD tour

Billy Tea Bush Safaris is the longest established 4WD day tour operator to Cape Tribulation. The first 1/2 of the journey north is very scenic with beautiful ocean views in contrast with the lush farmland around Mossman.

After morning tea you will learn about the mangrove rainforests, and hopefully observe local wildlife including the Estuarine Crocodiles on the Daintree River Cruise.

This tour offers a little more. It takes you beyond Cape Tribulation along the 4WD only 'Bloomfield Track', allows time for a swim in the Coral Sea at Cape Tribulation (seasonal) . There is no set timetable. You can enjoy elevated walks through the Cape Tribulation National Park with experienced guides who allow ample time for questions and photographs.

While you are taking a swim in a tranquil freshwater stream the BBQ lunch is prepared then served with home made salads, tropical fruit and Australian wine. You will probably see fish and turtles in the creek, butterflies and exotic birds in the trees and often Goannas on the forest floor all at the luncheon site.

On the way home enjoy a short afternoon refreshment stop where you can pat a Kangaroo, scratch a cockatoo, have a cold beer or sip a cup of local tea. Return to Cairns by 6:30pm.

Days 5,6 & 7 are at your leisure.

Day 8: Check out of accommodation - End of Package.
