In the 1890s the island was used as a resort for employees of a gold mining company and some local graziers started using the island to graze cattle.

120 years later the island is still a resort however the facilities provided to guests include:

Courtesy transfers are included to and from Palm Cove jetty where guests have access to the many gourmet restaurants and guests also have access to tour departures to the areas of Natural beauty in the region. From Cairns airport it will take only 30 minutes to drive to Palm Cove jetty.

The cute little island to the right is actually Haycock Island however it is known locally as 'Scout Hat' as it resembles a scout hat at low-tide.
