Cairns Night Zoo

Updated: 28-Jun-2010

The Cairns Night Zoo is located at Palm Cove, around 20 minutes drive North of Cairns City. The Night Zoo is the darker side of Cairns Tropical Zoo, Combining the typical Aussie BBQ with some night spotlighting, and a meeting with a genuine 'Swaggie' by his campfire - he'll offer you some billy tea and damper and spin a yarn about life in the slow lane.

You can self drive there for a 7pm kick off or include accommodation transfers for an extra $30.  You will need to pre book this as it fills up quickly. See the links to the right for more info on pricing and bookings.

What makes it great?

  • Real Aussie BBQ
  • Spotlighting for your favourite creature of the night
  • Heaps of fun dancing and singing with a drink or two
  • Feed the friendly kangaroos around the campfire

After meeting your hosts at the entrance, proceed to a delicious BBQ Dinner of Steak, Sausages, Chicken, Reef Fish, Prawns and Salads, followed by dessert. Complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks are included with your dinner.
During dinner enjoy some live entertainment and traditional Aussie tunes with the bush musician.

After dinner, your guides will provide you with a torch and lead you into the darkness to meet the creatures of the night. Learn how owls hunt, touch a possum and pat a koala. On clear nights the guides will take you star gazing. See the Southern Cross, the Big Dipper and other well known constellations.

Follow your guides as they lead you safely through the crocodiles' lair. 'Spot the Croc' as your torchlights reflect in their eyes.

In the Aussie bush, there's always a chance you will cross paths with a "Swaggie" (an original Australian bushman). Join him and enjoy billy tea and damper with him by the campfire. His friends, the kangaroos, will come down to say G'day and maybe even share a bite to eat!

After complimentary cold beer or wine, join in the fun as the bush musician teaches you how to dance some authentic bush dances AND to sing along with a couple of favourite Australian songs. It's more fun than you can imagine!

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and at 10pm it's time to leave - but they guarantee it is a night you'll long remember!

Inclulsions:

  • Return transfers from accommodation
  • BBQ dinner
  • Drinks
  • Guided spotlight tour
  • Bush supper
  • Entertainment
  • and all the fun!

Cairns Night Zoo operates between 7.00pm and 10.00pm every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
