Barron River Rafting | Foaming Fury
The Barron River half day tour is a fantastic White Water Rafting experience. Choose from Morning & Afternoon sessions. The Barron River is just 20 minutes from Cairns. Minimum age is 12 years.
Please Note: Afternoon Rafting is the only option until further notice.

- Rafts carry up to 7 passengers plus River Guide

- Pick-up from Cairns: 2:00pm
- Return to Cairns: 5:45pm
Self-Drive Option
- Meet Time: 2:30pm
- Location: Lake Placid Car Park
- Self-drivers will join the group here before heading up to the Barron Gorge.
Daily Schedule
2:00pm – 3:00pm
Pick-ups from Cairns and Northern Beaches. Travel to Lake Placid.
3:00pm
Pick up self-drive rafters at Lake Placid and continue to Barron Gorge.
3:15pm
Meet your River Guide for a safety briefing and paddling instructions.
3:30pm
Begin rafting down the Barron River, tackling exciting grade 2 and 3 rapids!
5:30pm
Arrive at the take-out point, change into dry clothes, then head to Lake Placid Tourist Park to view trip photos.
5:45pm
Return transfer back to your accommodation.
Self Drive Option
For a self-drive, meet the group at the Lake Placid Car Park at 2:30pm.
What to Bring
- Wear swimming costume under your clothes
- Towel
- Leave all jewelery and valuables at your accommodation
- Change of clothes
- Water resistant sunscreen
- Secure Footwear - lace up shoes or sandals that will get wet
